Nawaz Sharif probably woke up today and had only one thing on his mind: vote for former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in NA-124. And it would seem like everything was going according to plan as he made his way to the polling station with daughter Maryam Nawaz. They arrived at Government Technology College and things started to go awry.
Turns out, Mian Saab forgot his CNIC at home and was barred from voting.
Former PM Nawaz Sharif was not allowed to cast his vote because he was without his ID card

According to GEO, Nawaz Sharif asked his personal staff officer where his CNIC was. Apparently, the CNIC was with his personal secretary who wasn’t at the polling station. Bummer.
As news spread, people couldn’t hold back on the humor. Even on television, where the comments tend to be a bit filtered, you can see newscasters doing their best to hold back and not troll Mian Saab.
But social media is a different world 😈
People like to troll when they get the chance.

They also tend to be a bit more brutal.
If you had any doubts about #NawazSharif being an idiot he turned up at the polling station without his NIC expecting to cast his vote. Or perhaps he still thought he is the AmirUlMomineen

And then, on the other end, people started rooting for the presiding officer for not letting Nawaz Sharif vote to ensure that the same rules apply for everyone regardless of who they are.
I think the presiding officer should be applauded for not allowing Nawaz Sharif to cast his vote without a CNIC. Rules apply for everyone – No one is above the law.

Mian Saab has been through quite a bit and sometimes, one might feel bad for laughing at some of his misfortunes regardless of one’s political affiliations. But when something like this happens, it’s really hard not to laugh and ask “what the fuck dude?” Maybe I’m not fully aware of what he was dealing with today and I’m no political analyst nor do I want to try and act like one, but this is just bad.
What’s your take on this? Let me know in the comments.
