So before getting into the details of what really happened between Sajjad Ali and Momina Mustehsan, let’s just talk about who these iconic pop culture figures are, to us.
Sajjad Ali is an icon in the Pakistani music scene, can we all just agree on that?
And those of us who were born in the 90’s were witness to the tail end of a legendary career, as Sajjad bhai started to disappear from that mainstream prominence. He has emerged, on and off, from hiding only to absolutely mesmerize us, but largely, thanks to social media and a change in mainstream tastes or whatever, Sajjad Ali’s mainstream fandom has been replaced with the likes of younger singers like Abdullah Qureshi, and Momina Mustehsan.
Momina is one person who has achieved insane success following her debut in Coke Studio, thanks to social media and, of course, her talent.
Certainly, we at MangoBaaz, took a liking to Momina.
She performed with Rahat Fateh Ali khan on the last season of Coke Studio and got praised by almost everyone. Then, of course, came the hatred, which she has been tackling so well.
So what exactly is this comparison between Sajjad Ali and Momina, you ask?
Well, this Pakistani music app released a video yesterday comparing the two singers for their rendition of the same song. Patari needs no introduction on social media. They have helped new artists to showcase their talent and promoted almost every genre of music.
A video was recently posted by Patari on Facebook and they made a HUGE mistake. HUGE. The video compared the legendary Sajjad Ali to Momina in a face-off.

Obviously, the singers’ egos must’ve been bruised but even still, comparing two very different singers (where one is a legend, no less!) is rather unnecessary, tbh. The way Momina’s reacted shows her immense respect she has for her seniors and we have to say, it’s things like these that make her so lovable. One’s supposed to be thankful to our senior artiste’s for their contribution and passion to keeping the fledgling music industry alive in Pakistan.
Sajjad bhai, your voice can not be compared to any other artist and no one can touch our hearts like you do.
P.S: Patari, that wasn’t very smart. Tsk, tsk.
