After the commercial success of Jawan Phir Nahi Ani, the team behind the movie has returned with another movie, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, pillared on crackling duo Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed. The film, although very much reminiscent of your routine Bollywood films, carries all the usual song and dance gimmicks but with a plethora of emotions buttressed with fine acting.
The visuals of the movie are absolutely spectacular
We’re introduced to the dapper Humayun Saeed, who returns home to an awaited celebration after completing his education
Urwa Hocane is also in the movie and seems to be in love with Humayun’s character, who unfortunately doesn’t feel the same way
He instead pines for a heer for himself
In pops Mehwish Hayat, Humayun’s ‘heer,’ who’s profound presence on screen is undeniable
It’s love at first sight for the two, but as with all cinematic stories, the story comes with a little twist…
There’s a love triangle that’s brewing between Humayun, Mehwish and Azfar Rehman
And thus begins the standard song and dance saga
And eyes meet
The hero and heroine fall in love during the next viral mehndi song
As things take a turn for the worse, we are reminded there’s still drama in this love story
an angry Mehwish warns, Mein Punjab ab kabhi nahi jaongi,’
And more tears flow
Shescreams, ‘mein woh larki nahi hoon jisko tum daraoge tho dar jay gi ya tumhare mohobbat mein mar jaye gi’
In a last ditch effort to save his love, Humayun delivers an iconic dialogue
We get to hear a tearjerking line from Humayun – ‘pyaar mein sunna hai, ek doosre ka haath nahi chor te’
With a rich whirlwind of emotions
A striking bond that oozes between both Mehwish and Humayun
And battles for love
This film is one to look out for.
