So, in case you didn’t know, Pakistan’s very own controversial, yet badass feminist icon, Malala Yousafzai, is now officially on Twitter.
Malala Yousafzai decided that a simple ‘hi’ would be a great first tweet, which it is. Hi, Malala.
Hi, Twitter.
— Malala (@Malala) July 7, 2017
Twitter also tweeted back at her, because of course. She’s Malala Yousafzai.
Humein qadar na ho par doosron ko toh hai.

However, Malala herself didn’t JUST stop at a ‘hi.’ Nah, in true Malala-style, she tweeted an entire thread pertaining to her upcoming plans
Today is my last day of school and my first day on @Twitter [THREAD]

So we know she just graduated, and it’s been a bittersweet experience for her

And she acknowledges how girls around the world may not get the opportunity to complete their education
….I know that millions of girls around the world are out of school and may never get the opportunity to complete their education. 3/

However, she went on to talk about her Girl Power Trip where she would meet girls from around the globe
Next week, I will be back on my #GirlPowerTrip to meet girls in Middle East, Africa & Latin America. 4/
— Malala (@Malala) July 7, 2017
She also went on to mention how every girl’s voice is unique and must be heard
Each girl’s story is unique — and girls' voices are our most powerful weapons in the fight for education and equality. 5/
— Malala (@Malala) July 7, 2017
And she concluded the thread by asking the Twitterverse to help join in on her mission
On and off Twitter, I'm fighting for girls — will you join me?✋? 6/
— Malala (@Malala) July 7, 2017
Now, every time Malala Yousafzai comes up, people tend to have a variety of different reactions. Yahan pe bhi soorat-e-haal kuch aisay hee thay.
Some people stood up in support

Some called her a hero

And others called her their inspiration

— xo (@daisychainslove) July 7, 2017
However, our desi awaam was mostly on the fence about the whole scenario
Hey there. We don't need u to fight for us. We are self sufficient Alhamdulillah, we don't need any dramatic begger leader thanks
— Arooj ? (@AroojHyder) July 7, 2017
Unfortunately, some labeled her a drama queen
Worlds biggest drama queen

And were quick to question how much work she’s done for the country

Some thought that Twitter doubled as an investigation center
Tell us truth about yourself
— FreshPrince (@kabeerheartless) July 7, 2017
While others simply put forward conspiracy theories
Two of the biggest facades 1. Malala 2. Capturing of bin ladin
— subayyal (@higharchers) July 7, 2017
However, it was great to see that not everyone had hopped aboard the anti-Malala train
Wonderful news! Malala, you lead the world in peace, education and courage. Your light has shown the path to all who feel there is no hope
— Die-Hard Pakistani (@anumuae) July 7, 2017
And people were actually giving her advice to maintain a thick skin against trolls
Don't let the trolls bite. Welcome.
— Saima Naqvi (@Sai_Tab) July 7, 2017
In fact, some even tweeted against these trolls who criticize Malala Yousafzai from behind a screen
Fun fact: Trolls who harass people on Twitter can actually be reported. Visit Digital Rights Foundation’s website or their Facebook page to know more, or simply call their hotline (0800-39393) that’s functional Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Ppl who hate Malala are beyond me. Like seriously dude what you are doing? Hiding behind screen and criticizing? Keyboard Warriors GROW UP!
