Mahira Khan won the award for ‘Best Actress’ for critically and commercially panned film ‘Verna’
‘Verna’ was lambasted in storyline and plot and was a flop at the box office. Shoaib Mansoor’s latest film told the rugged tale about Mahira as a rape victim who failed at most to be emancipating.
Other nominees in ‘Best Actress’ included Mehwish Hayat for ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ and Neelum Muneer for ‘Chupan Chupai’
Many agree that Mahira, however, didn’t deserve to take home the Lux Lady

Although ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ was far from a memorable film, Mehwish’s role as Amal was both empowering and progressive for Pakistani women
