So yeah this is happening. Lizard penis is being sold in India as a good luck charm. That too a fake one. Before you start making any assumptions over how I know it to be fake, let me make it clear that I haven’t tried it. They are passing them off as a plant.
Apparently dried penises of monitor lizard are being sold as tantric plant roots
According to BBC, a joint investigative team from the UK and India have stumbled upon a unique type of ‘international fraud’.
These penises are being marketed as ‘hath jodi‘, a tantric plant root believed to brings good luck and happiness
This is what a ‘hathi jodi‘ looks like
‘Hathi Jodi‘ is a special type of jari booti that is shaped like two hands joined in prayer. Due to its unique shape it is believed by many to have a spiritual aspect to it. It has the power to fend of all types of evils. Like for instance it can sheild you from accidents. It can bring prosperity in fiscal terms. Also many believe that it can boost your attractiveness level in every sense. Basically it has the potential to render rishta aunties out of business.
This is what an actual lizard penis looks like
A team recently raided a house in Orissa state of India where they recovered a ton of penises. ( Okay, that just sounds wrong …Ramazan mein zaban kali karwaogay?)
According to World Animal Protection agency, other such raids have been conducted by Indian wildlife authorities.
Obviously Twitter blew up with ridiculous commentary on the situation
does that part grow back like other parts on a lizard? ?

I am surprised Amazon hasn’t already tapped into this market

If losing the final to Pakistan wasn’t bad enough. Now Indians have to endure this
Sometimes I wonder if Mowgli is not the only civilized Indian ?
