This Kid From Africa Plays “Pakistan Zindabad” Like A Boss With A Home-made Instrument

By Ather Ahmed | 21 Jun, 2017

This kid from Africa just joined in the party that everyone else has been reveling in for a while, now. We have seen several videos wherein our velyati friends celebrating Pakistan’s victory, either by force or choice.  It’s like beating India in the final is good and all, but validation from other nationalities is pure bliss.

I mean c’mon, we won it’s a great trick a to see a few goras here and there to chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ but enough is enough, it’s been three days. That’s why when a video of this kid possibly in Africa singing ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ surfaced, I had reservations about opening it. But since it’s sorta my job now and bills can’t pay themselves I decided to take a look.

This kid is chanting Pakistan Zindabad in an unorthodox rhythm while playing a unique musical instrument made from everyday items

It’s basically a one-string guitar made from a plastic bottle, a wire and what seems like stick of wood. Full marks for the ingenuity.

This is very much similar to a local instrument found in Sindh known as ‘eik tara‘ that literally means one string

It’s actually called Yakato in Sindhi. You can hear it in a variety of regional folk numbers in the sub-continent.

One string guitars have also been associated with the Mississippi Delta blues

It’s a style of blues music that originated in the Mississippi delta. a region of the United States stretching from Memphis, Tennessee, in the north to Vicksburg, Mississippi, in the south and from Helena, Arkansas, in the west to the Yazoo River in the east.

Makeshift guitars have also been a thing when it comes to blues music, in general

String instruments made from everyday items are not just playthings. They have been used by many to create beautiful music.

Check this guy jamming on his sick modified electric guitar made from a shovel

Here’s looking forward to seeing this creative genius growing up to becoming a musical powerhouse in the near future. He sure has skills for it.
