UPDATE: Louboutin did not name the shoe after our PM, but its namesake is an internationally famous Pakistani artist. Click here for the full story.
Christian Louboutin is an internationally recognized shoe designer. His iconic red sole shoes cost thousands of dollars, but his collections are among the world’s most coveted.
Back in 2017, Louboutin released a collection of flats that he named after Lahore. They were called the Lahore Flats.
The ‘Lahore Flats’ came about after Christian’s trip to Pakistan earlier that year, where he met with craftsmen around Lahore.
They weren’t cheap, at ALL. Back then, they cost upwards of PKR 78,000.
Well, it seems like Christian Louboutin’s obsession with Pakistan is nowhere near done.
Today, he showed the world his latest collection. A shoe, modeled after the iconic ‘Peshawari Chappal’. If you think that’s great, wait till you hear what he’s called it- ‘Imran Sandals’.
The coincidence of Louboutin making his version of a ‘Peshawari Chappal’ and naming it ‘Imran Sandals’ is a bit too good to be true.
As of now, we do not know for sure if these shoes are actually named after Imran Khan, but again, the coincidence is just too hard to look over.
They look absolutely S T U N N I N G.
Pakistanis were just over the moon to see these!
Now, while we would LOVE to wear these to the next shaadi we go to, let’s be real, they’re going to cost a literal FORTUNE!
Of course, the debate around ‘copy’ and ‘inspiration’ will rage on over these shows, however, in my opinion, in this day and age, creating something 100% original is going to be very hard. Christian Louboutin has taken the Peshawari Chappal are glammed it up for the world of high fashion, but it obviously, does not take away or oppose the original chappal, which is a true classic in any Pakistani’s wardrobe.
