Hum Television is under hot waters once again. The titan television network came under criticism after it held its annual Awards ceremony during the general elections, and was recently attacked by actor Feroze Khan after a dig was made at his wife Alizey. Now, people have taken to social media to denounce the show and boycott it entirely in a bid to restore what they feel is morally right for Pakistan’s entertainment future.
#NoToHumTV began trending on Twitter earlier today, with many condemning the show for promoting immorality
Apparently a planned violent rape by a competent, fully conscious male is a “nadaani” . Another drama's title says "Mein maa nahein banna chahti", I mean wt sort of culture r we promoting whr v so blatantly refuse 2 such a beautiful process bestoed upon women by Allah.#NoToHumTV pic.twitter.com/sXzosnDwPp

Reasons varied from many criticizing its award shows for emulating Indian shows like IIFA or Filmfare

Turkish dramas being dubbed and showed on the network were also condemned by a few
And then of course is the foreign content – Turkish dramas dubbed in Urdu – to entertain the audience. This is an obviously low-cost business strategy adopted by our channels. #NoToHumTV

A few stated that it had become unfortunate that families could no longer sit together and enjoy watching Pakistani dramas; instead, storylines were now “inspired by Indian soaps”
Gone are the days when families would sit together and watch Pakistani dramas. Instead, today we get to see the ‘not-so-moving’ storylines that seem to be inspired by Indian soaps #NoToHumTV pic.twitter.com/reM3Ozsm9k

A few Pakistanis claimed that Hum TV was promoting “Indian culture” by hiring Indian actors and “following their rituals”
Oddly enough, ARY Digital has cast Indian actors in its serials in the past, with other Pakistani channels promoting Indian shows; ARY Digital even aired ‘Big Boss’ consecutively with the Indian channel Colors.
This obsession with competing with something that does not represent us as far as our social values and culture is concerned ,it needs to be addressed on an urgent basis because it has a direct influence on the mindset of our younger generation.#NoToHumTV pic.twitter.com/WMkAB9VDuZ
