Often, people create stereotypes based on people’s choice of clothes. One particular case that stands out is that of Hijabis. People create a very inhuman type of an image in their heads and end up asking Hijabis some very weird questions.
A Muslim-American woman, who also happens to be a Hijabi, took to Instagram to share how every new day brings forth a series of new questions.
She documents these questions in the form of illustrations on Instagram.
Here is a list of illustrated questions that she frequently gets asked:
1. Shower with Hijab?
2. Hair or no hair?
3. Brainwashed?
4. Hijab in bed?
5. Calling a salon?
6. Nice costume?
7. Need a hairstylist?
8. Batman!?
9. Are you hot?
The account’s username handles that question, to begin with.
10. Coffee?
11. Oppressed, right?
These little questions, even though extremely funny, make us realize how we tend to put people in boxes and label them. Just because someone chooses to dress in a particular manner does not, at all, mean that they will have the exact personality traits or perceptions that you associate with them. Each individual is different from the other and looks at life differently. It’s a cute, fun way to put forward an extremely important message.
