There was a time when Xbox and Playstation didn’t exist

Neither did Sega or Nintendo

You know what did exist back then? Atari

Doesn’t ring a bell? Well let me give you a history lesson

During the 1970’s the concept of video games had just arrived on the scene. This was probably a time when your abu jaan was rocking them bell bottoms. ( For some of the teens here he was probably rocking them diapers)

Atari 2600 gaming console came out in this period and completely changed the landscape. See kids the games during that time were nothing like the ones you see today. There were no high quality movie grade graphics. The game play was one dimensional in all aspects. There were no multi layered story lines. Heck there was hardly a story line.

In spite of them being virtually nothing compared to the stuff you see now, these games had a charm of their own.

Be it Cops and robbers, Space invaders, Pitfall or Donkey Kong, each of them brought something different

So now that you know what Atari was, the brand is coming out with a new console

I would say that I wasn’t really excited as much as I was curious about the new reveal.

The company has released images of the upcoming console which appears to be the spitting image of the old Atari 2600

The new console is called Ataribox.

In fact the only thing that sets it apart from the old one, is USB ports for controllers, SD card slots and HDMI output. Oh and there is a flashy red logo too. Atari hasn’t reveled any specifications for the new console. However according to Mashable it has maintained that it will serve both classic and current content. Further the company is said to reveal more details such as price pretty soon.
