What’s not to love about babies? They’re adorable, can’t really talk to well and perfect source of entertainment for the entire family. But all that happens AFTER the baby is born, there’s a whole load of madness, chaos and wow moments that happen before, and all those emotions are on a whole different high especially if its the ghar ka pehla.
When you find out there’s such intense excitement about having a baby to play with
Everyone is so happy for the new addition to the family. Almost instantly you cannot wait for time to fast forward to the day you hold the little in your arms and spoil them rotten
But you have to contain your excitement because the news has to be a secret for some time
You want to get up somewhere high and just scream the news. Stuff like this is so hard to keep in your pait. If its so hard for you, imagine how bad the parents have it.
You’ll try your best NOT to make fun of your sister/bhabhi‘s maternity clothes and the new way she has to carry herself.
But once you get over that you’ll slowly become her greatest help and supporter.
There will be lots of “family meetings” to decide a name… and there will be lots of arguments over the name choice
This won’t be as easy as it seems. Everyone wants their name to be the chosen one and no one is willing to listen. Its the first child and choosing a naam is a game everyone wants to win at. This is also where you and the ‘in-laws’ now come face to face. There will be some super daadi ke zamanay suggestions, also some generic names will be thrown around oh and the ultra modern.
Party planning for the baby announcement and their aqiqa will happen
The date is coming closer and before the little one pops out you’ll want to squeeze one last celebration. But kya karna hai? All the elders will want a god barhai, and you’ll want a baby shower. Soon enough both parties will realize that really the essence is the same so everyone calls the gathering whatever they want to. Phir comes the terrible ordeal of figuring who to call and who not to…ugh.
Everyone in the family will tag each other in cute baby videos on the internet
Mission: make the baby viral is engaged and planning needs to be done beforehand.
And there will be lots and lots of shopping, all of it for the new addition to the family
Baby aya nahin, but shopping for it will at a peak. Two things will shock you as you go shopping. Firstly, why the hell are these things so expensive. Baby clothes are WAY too expensive for something the little human will literally grow out of it when you blink. And secondly how tiny those clothes are. Can human really be *that* tiny? Like kaisay?
Sometimes you’ll get tired of all the baby talk because you’re human and you need a break
There are a lot of emotions going on in your body when you see baby clothes, and you instantly want to buy everything for the baby but remember you have something called a ‘budget’ and you must stick to it.
At some point you’ll google how to change diapers, too
Your sister/bhabhi is not kidding when they say you’ll be part of the ‘lets raise this baby’ party. Its best you get on the way to preparing for the ugly poop-filled days. Everyone will be on the bandwagon of taking care of the baby, from the well experiences naani daadi, to the parenting novices and maamu/phupi assistants.
There will come a time when you’ll just sit and call out to the baby, ‘aa bhi jao yaar’
Don’t bother you already irritated siblings who are also waiting more eagerly than you. Not to mention that your sister probably has swollen feet, can’t really move all too well and has a human kicking her on the insides. Be nice.
And just like that… the ghar ka pehla bacha will arrive
There’s nothing but joy, smiles and laughter. Everyone wants to hold the new bacha and he/she is passed to everyone one by one. Now you just have to sit back and watch this little nugget become a fantastic person. After all he/she takes after its phupho/mamu.
