This past weekend saw Lahore play host to the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. This show was meant to showcase collections for the summer season (let’s not pretend that we’re in spring anymore, it’s freaking hot). This fashion week saw the ramp showcase some pretty funky, vibrant and light collections for the heat, and we’re seriously impressed with how many trends came up this time around.
Here’s a total breakdown:
1. Long flowy tops.
These featured heavily on day one and two of the fashion show, with different designers showing long shirts, made of light fabric. This is the perfect summer look!
2. Polka dots!
Polka dots were HOT on the ramp this time around. Polka dots are a fun way to spruce up an outfit. They have the ability to be muted and also loud at the same time- depending on what you pair them with. They can also offer a whimsical touch, to what would be a more modern-looking outfit.
3. Color blocking like we’ve never seen before.
Color blocking is an international sensation, and it is something we know very well in Pakistan, however, at this fashion week the color combinations were to die for. Get ready to screenshot this, because y’all need the inspiration for summer!
4. Chikankari and Linen.
Both these fabrics are ideal for summer- it’s pretty basic knowledge for desis who want to survive the heat! This year, chikankari based designs made it big on the ramp, paired with gota and color. It’s clearly time to hit summer fashionably! Also, side note, these make for GREAT eid looks.
5. A total whitewash!
Internationally, yellow has been the color of the season, however, almost all the designers who showcased at this fashion week had items in white, and truth be told, they were stunning!
6. Structured shoulders and shoulder pads.
Structured jackets and shoulder pads have been happening for a while, in the international fashion community but they’re having their exaggerated moment on the fashion week.
