THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE. The long-awaited Disney remake of ‘The Lion King’ just dropped its first official trailer, and it’s so overwhelming you won’t be able to control your emotions (I’m currently drowning in a pool of my own tears). It’s everything you’d hope it to be – dripping in nostalgia and quite the homage paid to the original film.
The film, starring actors like James Earl Jones, Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles, Seth Rogen among others gave ‘The Lion King’ fans a treat with its tantalizing trailer.
We got to see a deeper glimpse into Pride Rock, with Scar, Simba, Rafiki, Mufasa, Timone, and Pumba – all bearing striking resemblances to their 2D cartoon predecessors.

There are lots of delicious visual nods and references to the beloved cartoon original, despite the darker tone and incredibly photo-real CGI.

(I really do wish Rowan Atkinson reprised his role as Zazzu (the only slight issue I have with the film)).

The trailer gave us lovely snippets of the original movie’s songs, like ‘Hakuna Matata…’

Wait for it…
Oh bravo Disney, truly!

And even renditions of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight!’

I CANNOT!

The pivotal moment where Mufasa and Simba face THAT stampede is also shown in the trailer *CUE SCREAMING*

Someone start playing THE CIRCLE OF LIFE ALREADY!

The film looks GORGEOUS, with stunning views of the landscape we all grew up with.

‘The Lion King’ is all set to release on July 19th.
Here’s the official trailer.
