He was often noted as one of the most influential and important instructors in Pakistan and people all over the country knew who he was. Langlands was born in 1917 and chose to move to Pakistan after partition where he joined the country’s armed forces. He later joined the education field in which he found his way to Aitchison College.
Apart from his teaching position in Lahore, Langlands was also instrumental in Sayurj Public school, the first private school in Chitral, which was renamed after Langlands, ‘Langlands School and College.” He was also the recipient of many awards, among them the Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Order of the British Empire by The Queen of England for his commitment and contributions to education and humanity.
Because of his role, many were lucky enough to meet Langlands and learn from him. Because of this, students fell in love with his personality and the man that he was.
At age 101, Langlands has passed away and students and Pakistanis all over the country are mourning his loss.

Geoffrey Langlands, 101. has passed away. He educated several of Pakistan's future leaders, including the current prime minister. Said IK wasn't a great student, and maintained a great fondness for Farooq Leghari. What a unique position to witness Pakistan's history unfold. RIP.

Had the privilege of interviewing him in 2014. I was meant to be there for an hour. We ended up speaking for 5. He was as generous with his time as he was with his stories. Showed me photographs of a young Chaudhry Nisar, Farooq Leghari, Imran Khan, "the Bugti boys" and many more
