Trigger warning: This piece contains the mention of alleged harassment and sexual assault.
In the late hours of Tuesday night, a conversation started picking up on Twitter. The conversation revolved around influencer and vlogger Ukhano – Umar Khan – being accused of alleged harassment.
The conversation took off from a now-deleted Facebook post that insinuated that Umar had the tendency to use his influence to his advantage. The post made its way to Twitter and instantly started picking up heat as more and more voices came forward claiming they’d been through the same.
The following are some claims that surfaced as a result of the Facebook post (we have been instructed to protect the identity of the user who has shared this on Twitter)
Additionally, another screenshot that was being circulated was one that had an alleged conversation attached.
In light of these allegations, Team MangoBaaz also reached out to Umar Khan (Ukhano) for an official statement addressing the allegations. Here’s what he had to share:
“Earlier today I was confronted with tweets from a girl accusing me of misconduct with her that has left me speechless and shaken. It has led to more of these misguided allegations, which are based on falsehood and dishonesty, I would firmly like to clarify my interaction with her, as with everyone else, is both consensual and mindful.”
“Anyone that has known me, even for a brief time, knows that respect for both men and women is the basis on which we work together.”
“I am particularly mindful of the difficult position women find themselves in and I’ve seen first hand how admirably they overcome their struggles. I know we live in a male-dominated world and these brave women will define both our present and our future.”
“I have always been aware of my words and actions and the impact they can have on someone’s life. I have had a considerably clean life and career away from ill intent and controversy and I fully encourage this person to exercise her right and bring forward any truthful accusations as I would do the same at this point.”
Umar Khan has also, since then, uploaded a video on his Instagram account, which has now been deleted.
- Since the time of publishing and the release of Umar’s statement in his video, renowned vloggers/YouTubers like Mooroo, Anoushey Ashraf, and some fans have taken to Instagram to voice their thoughts in Umar’s favor.
