It’s true that in today’s world, money has become a necessity to survive. But is it really the only thing that makes your life complete? Not really. Here a few things you can never buy, no matter how much cash you own:
1. The sakoon you get when you rest your head in your ami’s lap
And when she runs her finger through your hair.
2. Your love/ hate relationship with your siblings
Cherish your family, your mother, your father, your crazy siblings. Even your phupho yaar. Every relationship is beautiful in its own way, and something you just cannot buy.
3. Good company
Money may attract people who’d want to spend time with you, but it cannot guarantee closeness with those people. Even someone with nothing in their pocket have a friend or a spouse that they are extremely close with, with whom they can share parts of themselves they can’t share with anyone else.
4. The scent of someone you love
It can be the smell of your baby brother, your mother’s dupatta, or your husband’s sweater. You cannot get that kinda scent in any perfume shop.
5. The feeling you get at the airport when you meet your loved ones after a long time
6. Respect
With money, you can hire people who will respect you either for your money, or out of fear. True respect has to be gained, it just cannot be bought.
7. Health and a long life
Even a genius like Steve Jobs with all the wealth in the world was helpless when it came to health. You can be a billionaire, and still can’t buy it. So be thankful for it every single day.
8. A happy marriage
A woman with all the diamonds and clothes in the world can still be crying in a Mercedes next to her unloving husband, and she could be the happiest woman in the world seated at the back of her affectionate husband on a bike. Money cannot guarantee nor buy satisfaction and happiness with a spouse.
9. A true friend
Someone who’s there for you when nobody else is, someone who is always watching out for you with wanting nothing in return but your friendship.
10. Unconditional love
A love which asks for nothing in return. No conditions. Just a heart, in exchange for yours.
11. Trust
It’s so precious, that once broken you just cannot replace the same level of trust.
12. Laughter that makes your belly hurt
You can buy a ticket to a comedy show, or for a funny movie, but the insane gut-rumbling laughter that makes your eyes water can only be a product of silly jokes or memories shared with friends and loved ones. Inside jokes and humor that doesn’t make any sense to anyone else is something you can’t buy.
13. A genuine apology
14. Mental peace
15. A long and warm japphi from someone who means a lot to you
