So Karachi has been dealing with a massive storm for the past two days. Out of nowhere, heavy rainfall started to pour in the city of lights. You had thunder, you had lightning, you had flooded roads, full of storm scene guys. For a while, Karachi was like Venice. Minus the beauty and romance of course. But along with all that was expected, Eid ul Azha may get ruined for so many people thanks to the storm.
With Eid ul Azha just around the corner, baqra mandis have a huge problem at their hand after the big storm in Karachi
Since they are situated outdoors, it became a huge hassle for sellers to safeguard their merchandise during the ruckus.
The Sohrab Goth Mandi in particular, which is basically the Tomorrowland of livestock, was left in complete ruins
There are reports that several animals have reportedly fallen sick as a result of which they are unsuitable for sale
This has left the poor farmers in dire financial conditions because they might not be able to sell these animals.
Due the severe conditions in Karachi following the storm, there is speculation that price rates would fall for the animals. This is because sellers in desperation would be willing to give away their merchandise at loss. There are also concerns that this may also result in shortage for sacrificial animals right before Eid.
Certain organizers of the mandis have maintained that damage was curtailed by keeping their animals between ‘dry sand’ so they don’t incur any illness.
Additionally, the rain has also resulted in fodder for the animals being wasted.
Given that the last few days before Eid are filled with anxiety as it is, naturally, people felt the need to voice their opinions over the matter
Some came up with innovative solutions for future.
