The Richest Poor Man, Angel of Mercy, known internationally as “the world’s greatest living humanitarian”, needs no Nobel Prize nor an introduction; nothing can come close to recognizing what he did or what he meant to us all. Abdul Edhi Sattar, the man who left the entire world mourning yet at the same time applauding his nobility and immeasurable efforts for humanity cannot, will not and should not ever be forgotten.

Pakistani film producer, Salman Hamid, recently announced during a press conference at the Lahore Press Club that a film would be made in honor of Edhi.

The movie, which is said to be titled ‘I am Edhi,’ would star Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah to play the role of Edhi.

Naseeruddin Shah has won numerous awards in his career, including three National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards and an award at the Venice Film Festival. Has has also been honored with awards by The Indian Government for his achievements in the Indian Cinema.

It’s also not the first time he’s going to be working in Pakistan.Naseeruddin Shah has already worked in two well received Pakistani films, Khuda Kay Liye and Zinda Bhaag. Moreover, he’s also been a regular feature in theatrical performances in Lahore, thanks to the Faiz Foundation Trust.

This film is meant to be a tribute to the compassion Edhi had shown to mankind and look into his ventures to make the world a better place.

The best part about the film is that ten percent of its profits will be donated to the Edhi Foundation.

Although no actor in the world might be able to do justice to Edhi’s role,  Naseeruddin Shah is an internationally acclaimed actor and has carried off many versatile roles with grace and brilliance, so we are sure he will not disappoint us in this one too.
