Attention gamers, we come bearing exciting news. Mountain Dew is bringing gaming out from the dens and college/university competitions to a grand scale.
Internationally, we have seen a lot of tournaments held on a grand scale inviting gamers and gaming enthusiasts on a more theatrical set up.
Our homegrown players have previously made headlines by being ranked highly in the world of e-sports. FYI Before his 16th birthday, one players earnings amounted to no less than $200,000, as a professional gamer.
Well, now things are about to get a lot more exciting.
Mountain Dew has just launched the first ever gaming platform in collaboration with ESL, the internationally leading gaming giant.
With a whole lot of celebrity-packed launch event, might we add?
The star studded event attracted top celebrities from across the town including Feroze Khan, Mira Sethi, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Imran Abbas, Hareem Farooq and Cybil Chaudhry.
And some gamers, too
It was announced that the prize pool will amount to a whopping 1 Million Rupees and this badass trophy ~
The competition will consist of on-ground qualifier rounds in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad whilst also reaching out to online participants. Top gamers from Pakistan will compete against each other in Dota 2 and CS: GO for the title of best of the best in the country.
What does this mean for the gaming industry in Pakistan?
E-sports is a budding industry worldwide with gamers raking millions of dollars in cash prizes. Players have dedicated their lives to build internationally recognized careers. Judging from Sumail’s success and how the top teams in DOTA and CS have consistently included Pakistani players, there is immense potential in our country. Since the games can be accessed from any part of the world, players in Pakistan have so far been restricted to playing in their own rooms for hours on end or from cafes. Previously, universities have ventured out to arrange for small-scale competitions but none of these have been fully dedicated to help gamers perfect their skills. With this platform partnering with ESL, gamers will now have access to better tournament halls, limelight and a more theatrical setup. By officially initiating a mega-tournament for DOTA and CS enthusiasts in Pakistan, Mountain Dew Gamers Arena will change the format of gaming in the country.
The registrations for the competition are now open and further details will be shared via the official pages of Mountain Dew.
