Photographs of Bushra Ansari began circulating on Facebook recently, as she attended the QMobile Hum Showcase and absolutely slayed her look.
A few Facebook pages had captioned her photographs with phrases like, “No words to describe her boldness.”
Not only did Bushra Ansari look absolutely stunning, she seemed pretty confident and at ease too.
However, once the internet caught a glimpse of these pictures, a lot of ridiculous comments were passed.
Some people resorted to disrespect
There were a few who likened her to a transgender (though I personally don’t get how being likened to a transgender is an insult)
A lot of people wanted her to “dress and act her age”
The moral police were quick to jump on board with the bashing as well
As were those who wanted Bushra Ansari to be “tamed” by those around her
Some didn’t understand the purpose of the outfit (looking great apparently doesn’t count)
While others had this to say
Fortunately, there a few who chose to defend Bushra Ansari
And others rightfully pointed out how we’re no one to judge
While some chose to highlight the hypocrisy that exists within our society
This incident highlights how when we fail to respect icons like Bushra Ansari, who have given a large chunk of their lives to the entertainment industry by trying to police their personal lives the way we “think” is the right way to be presented in public.

When someone who has constantly proven their mettle can’t be spared, it speaks volumes about our society as a whole, and is a reflection of how women just can’t win – even when they make conscious decisions about their own bodies.
The same people talking about this being begairti fail to see the begairti in ridiculing another individual for what they choose to wear, especially when that individual is someone who our society generally admires.
Bushra jee, you keep slaying, girl.
