Legendary Bollywood Actress Sridevi Has Passed Away

This just in: Bollywood actress Sridevi passed away on Saturday night in Dubai after a cardiac arrest. She was 54 years old.

Born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, ‘Sridevi’ made her debut as a child actress in 1967. She had worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films before making her debut in Hindi films.

The Bollywood legend was married to film producer Boney Kapoor. She is known to be the first female superstar of Bollywood and was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ which is the fourth highest civilian honor in India.

Sridevi and her family were in Dubai attending the wedding ceremony of her nephew, Mohit Marwah this past week.

She was with her husband Boney Kapoor and her daughter Khushi at the time of death, while her daughter Jhanvi was in Mumbai shooting for a film. The cause of death was cardiac arrest.  The news was confirmed by her brother in law, Sanjay Kapoor. “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet,” Sanjay confirmed the news to indianexpress.com.
