13 Ways To Make Sure Your Hair Doesn't Look Like Jharoo At Shaadis

By Haadia Paracha | 14 Feb, 2017

It’s the shaadi season and with that comes the great responsibility to look your absolute best, both on the dancefloor and otherwise. There are the outfits, the opportunity to doll yourself up with makeup shenanigans and experiment with a different hairstyle for each of the God knows how many days. This means a lot of make-up tutorials and trips to the parlor. Iss sub mein agar baal bhi saath na dein tou kya hoga? After all, your hair are your best asset. (Kinda, sorta)

Here are a few ways to make sure your hair don’t look like jharoo (or worse) this shaadi season:

1. Hair dryers are not your best friends.

But if you have to must go through that abusive relationship, choose a serum.

2. Always go for the shampoo that suits your hair type.

It seems hella basic but trust me, many people underestimate the power of picking out the shampoo and conditioner that’s the perfect fit for their hair type.

3. Okay, it’s definitely cool to flaunt a different color every few months but… NOPE.

The damage is not only irreparable, they leave you with nasty gray hair. Aur apko abhi se nani amma bannay ka shok kyun hay?

4. DO. NOT. BRUSH. OVER. WET. HAIR.

You hear me? This breaks your hair. Slowly. And painfully.

5. Rinse with cold water even if it’s freezing. Sorry not Sorry.

Hot water can be tempting in this sardi but it also drains them of all the moisture and shine. Pun intended.

6. Eggs can be boiled, fried, scrambled or turned into a yummy omelette…for your hair

Trust your culinary skills and add raw eggs to your scalp. They sure do smell nasty and take while to come off. But the nutrients will have your hair SINGING.

7. A little bit of olive oil every day keeps the split ends away (dammit, it’s like we didn’t even TRY to rhyme)

Easy come and easy go, olive oil is the best kind of late night snack for your head.

8. Here’s a cool new trick: Add some aloe vera to your shampoo.

We can’t even explain how much of a miracle fix this is.

9. Wrapping your hair in a towel is a no-go.

Wrap in a t-shirt, instead. Preferably cotton.

10. Clean your hairbrushes and combs regularly.

This is important so excess oils and all that big bad goo is gotten rid of before you let it through to your big, beautiful mane.

11. Braid your hair when you go to bed.

Nani jo kehti theen woh sehi kehti theen. Leaving your hair free at night allows them to tangle and split faster when you’re tossing and turning in bed dreaming about your khwabon ka raja.

12. Religiously use hair masks

At least once a week, you guys. No cheating. You can also make organic masks at home with something as regular and inexpensive as yogurt, bananas, and honey.

13. Condition your hair from mid-length to the ends for smooth and manageable hair.

Ancient wisdom and modern medicine agree that hair ends are more susceptible to losing their moisture so be sure to condition them ever so frequently.

Now go practice all your new knowledge (and look flawless in the process)
