Anushka Sharma Changed Her Facebook Picture To Celebrate Pride But People Can’t Stop Trolling Her

By Iman Zia | 7 Sep, 2018

India made history yesterday after ruling that gay sex is no longer a criminal offense. The Supreme Court declared a colonially placed law under section 377, which categorized gay sex as an “unnatural offense” was officially outlawed. Discriminating against someone based on their sexual orientation was now a punishable crime and a violation of human rights. The ruling was celebrated internationally, with many breaking down on social media over the historical tide.

Bollywood celebrities have been celebrating the monumental moment on social media

Anushka Sharma too joined in on the celebrations, however after she changed her profile picture on Facebook to the pride flag, she quickly became the subject of massive trolling

…And by trolling, we’re talking 7.2k comments worth of trolling. Recently the actress became the face of the viral ‘Sui Dhaaga’ meme that pretty much broke the internet. The memes were basically just real-life scenarios with the actress’s various moods photoshopped in from the film’s trailer.

She responded to the meme chain, saying that it’s “genuinely, extremely funny,” but it’s come at a price for the actress – she couldn’t even celebrate the abolishment of section 377 without trolls filling up her comments section with updated versions of the ‘Sui Dhaaga’ meme!
