The Pakistan Loreal Bridal Week started with a bang last night. Designers like Nomi Ansari and Rema Shahbano took center stage with their bridal collections for the fall and winter seasons. Ali Xeeshan ended the first day, as he should, given how dramatic and exquisite his collections can be.
Every year, the designer tries to showcase a social issue in his showcase.
In the past, he’s placed a lot of emphasis on child marriages
Be it through dolls, or when this moment happened at last years fashion week.
This year was no different for Ali Xeeshan.
During his show, the designer took on the culture of social media that exists now. He presented social media as something that adds unnecessary burdens to shaadis. The culture of likes, shares, and whatnot adds to the craziness that already surrounds our desi shaadis.
This is the first time a major designer has taken on the issue of social media and its implications on the way we all live our lives.
Aside from Ali Xeeshan’s social commentary, the rest of his collection ‘Ijaazat’ was just breathtaking.
As always, his designs dropped jaws across the room
Day 1 of PLBW 18 had a lot to offer, with all the designers present putting their best foot forward.
Here are some trends we noticed across the board!
Pastels were front and center through all the shows yesterday
Pastels and jewel tones truly ruled the night
While the traditional red was still being showcased, designers went with muted tones as well as shades of white for their bridals
Even this number, worn by Saba Qamar, shows a new shift in bridals. It was just exquisite to see this in person
For me personally, Hussain Rehar was my favorite for Day 1! Traditional elements mixed in with modern silhouettes and cuts
Day 1 has been pretty intense, and we CANNOT wait to see what all goes down tonight. What looks did you like from Day 1? Let us know in the comments 🙂
