‘Diyar-e-Dil’ was such a diamond of a drama. It’s a bit underrated (and I honestly don’t know why), but nonetheless has a zesty cult following for all those who have seen the stellar show. Starring Sanam Saeed, Maya Ali, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ali Rehman Khan and the venerated Abid Ali, ‘Diyar-e-Dil’ told the touching tale of two brothers ripped apart. Ali Rehman Khan played Suhaib, the broken younger brother of Behroze (Mikaal) who spent the rest of his life trying to bring both estranged father and son back together after they are torn apart.
Suhaib was crafted so spectacularly by Farhat Ishtiaq; he was kind, humble and achingly warm
Suhaib was left lifeless at the loss of Behroze, often breaking down and expressing his dismay that the feud between his father and brother has stolen from him not just a brother, but a friend. His melancholic demeanor was critically acclaimed, and watching the drama there were times I honestly thought to myself – what a terrific actor. Standing ovation for the actor for bestowing Pakistani television with an Oscar-worthy performance.
