Fazal Ur Rehman questioning WikiLeaks ka relation with Jemima
Religious parties in Pakistan may not have political clout, they do manage to make noise though. Many people don’t take the political leadership of religious parties like JUI F seriously because of the lack of their understanding of modern issues. Recently, JUI F has been leading a so-called “Azadi March” dharna in Islamabad and its leadership has been talking to the media about their concerns. Sadly, one statement by the leadership of JUI F is coming back at them again and again.
It was only last week when Mufti Kifayatullah of JUI F made a joke of himself when he said “Wiki” of WikiLeaks was Jemima Khan’s cousin

Now his fellow party leader and the head of JUI F, Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman was asked about WikiLeaks
Showing what felt like a pretty decent response in the start, Fazal Ur Rehman said he is not really adept at understanding such matters as he keeps to himself about them but “Wiki” of WikiLeaks has some connection to Jemima. He asked the host to tell him what is Wiki’s relationship to Jemima if he’s not the cousin.
Of course Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman was told WikiLeaks is owned by Julian Assange and not some “Wiki, by the host
But Maulana sahab chose to reiterate his rather misogynistic question which he was attempting to frame as a taunt to Jemima. Sadly, he only ended up making a fool of himself and reinforcing his own and his party leadership’s ignorance in matters of world affairs, and common sense.

Naturally, people couldn’t help but find it extremely hilarious that Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman thinks WikiLeaks is still run by a “Wiki” despite such a public trolling of his fellow party leader

Political allegiances aside, it is basic common sense for politicians who aim at public office, let alone the highest seat of the country, to have basic understanding of facts. For a leader, to be able to engage the public and the world all whilst not making a joke out of themselves, it is important to be aware of what their talking points are. Not knowing about WikiLeaks beyond just wanting to make a sexist taunt about Jemima Khan’s relationship with the organization is extremely irresponsible and ridiculous for such leaders.
