She said that when she entered the entertainment industry, many “suggest[ed] that [she] cover [her forehead] as it’s too big Aamina.” Fraternity members would taunt her and say that her forehead would make her “face look strange,” with many telling her not to tie her hair so tightly back in fear that it’ll “recede [her] hairline.”
The actress said that despite such remarks her entire life, she never let those “voices create any kind of complex” in her
She explained why she never let herself get insecure, owing it to her “upbringing,” in particularly her “siblings” and “parents” who never made any demeaning comments. The actress stated how “physical appearance was NEVER a topic of concern in the home while growing up” and instead topics were more focused on “education, developing life skills, traits, and discipline.”
“Home really is the breeding ground of one’s sense of self. Please be mindful, create that nest, that safe space and respectfully raise your children to be able to take the shame out of body shaming! It begins with YOU!”
