Directioners all over the world are pretty disappointed yet again, especially Zayn Malik’s fans. When Zayn Malik was still a part of One Direction, the band never really earned any Grammy nominations over the years but now that Zayn Malik’s debut album Mind of Mine was out in March 2016 (and it did extremely well, his single “Pillow Talk” topping charts) his fans were expecting his name to definitely be on the nomination list for 2017 Grammy. Sadly, that wasn’t to be.
The Grammy officials tried giving a justification for not nominating Zayn.
According the senior vice president of awards at the Recording Academy, “[t]his was actually pretty clear cut given the international success of One Direction. It’s been a few years since Zayn Malik came to prominence as a member of that group, making him ineligible for the best new artist category this year.”
The fans, however, believe this reasoning is unfair, here are how his fans are reacting:
