Hum Television is a force to be reckoned with. The network is batting out an admirable plethora of dramas that ooze in both integrity and story. With the incredibly powerful ‘O Rungreza‘ in its third week, Hum TV has unraveled another serial, ‘Daldal’ and the first episode was a solid one. The show’s cast holds Armeena Rana Khan, Zahid Ahmed, Muneeb Butt, with Abid Ali and Asma Abbas in a pinning family drama, in a humble setting.
WARNING – SPOILERS!
‘Daldal’ is pillared on the ever so modest Abid Ali’s household, with his three sons, daughter, and wife
Abid Ali’s character is a charming and honest civil servant, who appears at first instance inferior to his resentful and difficult wife, played by the brilliant Asma Abbas. Money struggles are set in place from the start of the episode of ‘Daldal,’ and the family relies solely on the income of the father and his two eldest sons Shuja and Kamran.
Shuja, played by Zahid Ahmed is what you call the epitome of masculinity but with a heart
Shuja is wrapped in virility but beholds a good heart, from his interaction with his family and his conversations with his wife-to-be, the bubbly Hira, played by Armeena Khan. He relays his worries after not being promoted due to the unfortunate burden of nepotism at his work. Shuja is fed up and has his heart set on settling abroad (and he is urged to follow through by his mother).
While his brother Kamran is softer and far more emotive than his nonchalant brother
Muneeb Butt is the softer younger brother and far more like his father. He too believes in hard work and honesty in earning. Kamran is upset with all the taunts his mother hurls at his father regarding how they’re still in a financially unstable state.
The family are down to earth, warm and affectionate – which makes for the perfect household
Shuja is to wed Hira and the crux of the episode arrives at preparing for the engagement, where Shuja’s concerns are put on the shelf for now.
Hira is a gem – she’s simple, unfazed and is ardently in love with Shuja
Hira hails from a relatively more well-off family, yet is a honeyed, pure character. Her phone calls with Shuja suggest how much she loves him; from sending selfies to asking Shuja if he’s alright, it’s the cutest love story!
The moment of the episode arrives at a rather endearing conversation between Shuja and Armeena, and we see him let out the second smile of the entire episode
While financial strains weave in and out of the episode, strictly sourcing from Shuja and his mother, sweet gestures between Hira and Shuja prove a breath of fresh air for Shuja.
Hira and Shuja are your conventional desi couple, with the former speaking to Shuja in the utmost polite manner
Their chemistry is undeniable, however, their families haven’t taken to each other with fondness, and a fight brews during the engagement, prompting the end of the episode.
