Humza Yousaf is a Member of Scottish Parliament and the son of a Pakistani father and a Kenyan mother.
At 25 years old, Humza was the youngest MP to be elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2011.
Humza has been interested in politics and international affairs from a very young age
He was always interested in community work, fundraising and social causes from a very tender age and was the media spokesperson, voluntarily, for the organization ‘Islamic Relief’. Humza was also awarded the “Future Force of Politics” at the Young Scottish Minority Ethnic Awards in 2009.
Upon being called to take the oath Humza, dressed in the Kilt (that skirt like thing which is the Scottish traditional dress) and Sherwani on top.
He wanted to reflect his Scottish-Pakistani identity. He also did that by first taking the oath to his office first in English and then again in Urdu, followed by a loud applause from his colleagues.
