Many optimistic people have been calling the current onslaught of Pakistani movies yet another ‘revival’ of cinema in the land of the pure. However, not many are as happy with movies that seem to follow a similar pattern. A small town hero, a heroine preferably ameer baap ki beti, a love story, villainous parent(s), song and dance, maybe even an Ayesha Omer or Mehwish Hayat item number thrown in.
Sadly, with the race to make money minting “family entertainers”, stories are being compromised, in Pakistani movies these days. So these people have some suggestions for the cinema industry in Pakistan to make movies on:
