Here's How the Pakistan Government is Going to Save $1 Million Every Year

By Sarmad Amer | 16 Feb, 2016

The world is at a very dangerous point now. And this isn’t just because of the increasing intolerance among every single community, or the ravages of war in places like Syria and Palestine. The reason this world of ours is at such a dangerous point is because of climate change.

Increasing temperatures, irreversible global warming and calamity

These are just some of the buzz words that are being repeated among global policy makers. Emergency conferences are held, like the recent Paris climate conference, also called the COP21, that was held in December of last year to take strict actions to save our Earth before we kill ourselves because of our own actions.

Surely, you’ve heard about Pakistan’s pollution being ‘off the charts’

The World Bank recently published a report where it stated that Pakistan’s air pollution was among the worst in the world. Yeah, even worse than in China where cities look like this all year round:

There has also been so much said about Pakistan not doing much to ensure that the increasing threat of pollution is curtailed before it becomes indestructible.

But Pakistan’s Parliament just became the first in the world to become completely operated on solar power

With the help of the Chinese government, in a $52.5 million project that was first announced in 2014, the Parliament building has become operational exclusively on solar power.

The project produces 80 megawatts of power of which 62 megawatts are consumed by the building while the rest is sent back into the national grid.

This initiative is expected to save $1million in electricity bills

And Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected formally ‘switch on’ the project later in the month, according to Dawn News.
