Watch out for the scammer’s fam, they’ll get you.
We all know Nouman Ali Khan.
For those of us who don’t, he is a renowned Pakistani-American Muslim preacher whose teachings have travelled all over the world, thanks to the Internet. He grew a tremendous following on social media thanks to his variety of topics and the ability to speak as a modern-day Muslim.
Unfortunately, Khan also found himself in the centre of attention later on in his career in 2017 when found guilty of engaging in sexual conduct with multiple women.
Suffice to say, it wasn’t great for his image. And though things died down and Khan was able to start preaching again, it seems as though another scandal is heading his way…
Nouman Ali Khan just called out a scammer for using his name to get money from innocent people.
This fake account used Khan’s profile picture as well as information to pose as him. According to Nouman’s post, this person was using his name to get money out of innocent people who followed the profile.
Nouman has called out the account and has been asking people to block and report it and it seems as though his followers have caught on to the message.
Many have since even come out revealing messages and emails they received from this alleged ‘Nouman.”
And it’s not looking good.
One person posted a message that was sent to them a month ago.
Imagine how many people this account could have reached out to in a month.
And this person was sent an entire email, not asking for money, but for personal details.
Which to be honest, may even be worse.
To which Nouman responded,
Imagine being a public figure with a public platform and finding out that your own identity is being used to scam who even knows how many Muslims all around the world. And the fact that there is a possibility of these recipients happily giving out money for it to be in someone else’s hands is just disturbing.
Obviously, this is the Internet so you would think it wouldn’t be AS shocking considering that cybercrime is a very real thing. But the fact that this account has been successful in contacting Nouman’s followers and actually having them believe it was him is quite dangerous.
