There’s a very common story you hear in Pakistan, that the media doesn’t portray the country appropriately. You turn on a news channel and there’s usually something negative on, some sort of violence or problem. It’s even worse when looking at through the lens of Western media channels. But can you really blame them? After all, this is what sells.
During her internship at Dawn News in Karachi last summer, Taahira would share her experiences in the city with her friends back at Nanyant Technological University in Singapore. They were surprised to hear about indie rock cafe’s and BBQ joints.
Realizing that there was a huge gap between the real life in Pakistan verses the media’s portrayal, Taahira along with Jeremy, Jemimah and Andre decided to embark on their Final Year Project to shed light upon the stories that don’t make it onto headlines.

What is an interactive documentary?
An interactive documentary is one where user gets to participate.
It differs from more traditional forms – video, audio, photographic – by using various multimedia tools.
Interactive documentaries combine photography, text, audio, video, animation and infographics to make the experience more engaging for the user.
