This Pakistani Band's Cover Of Game Of Thrones Soundtrack Is The Best Tribute To The Show

Khumariyaan is a Peshawar based instrumental band in Pakistan that has steadily seen their fan base grow from a niche folk music loving audience in their hometown, to connoisseurs of music from all across Pakistan, and beyond.

Khumariyaan consists of four friends from Peshawar who are die-hard music lovers

The band was formed at a time when insurgency, instability and, consequently, military operations were at their peak, in the region. What makes them special is their ability to connect with audience regardless of language barriers, because they are an instrumental group.

According to the band, “[their] focus is to elevate music to medium of peace of being, and musically, break the tradition of the South Asian vocal based musical culture, thus we are an instrumental band.”

Khumariyaan was nominated for Lux Style Awards 2016, in the Best Song category for their song ‘Tamasha’

The much loved instrumental song has become a hallmark of Khumariyaan gigs with fans asking for encore performances of the song. While the song lost to Ali Zafar’s “Rockstar”, many felt that Khumariyaan was robbed of an award because of the fact that their song managed to enthrall all and sundry, without the need for vocals.

And now, they have released the best cover of the Game of Thrones soundtrack

The fact that they have managed to do a spot on cover aside, the video that the band has released features breathtaking locations, proving that the beloved show could very well have shot in Pakistan.

Behold, the beautifully shot and amazingly played, Khumariyaan’s cover of the Game of Thrones soundtrack:
