Girls who love watching and playing sports are rare, I’ll admit. However varied we may be, our encounters with people are all pretty similar.

Here are a few of the things that occur in the daily lives of girls who love sports:

1. The first question you get asked is, “you watch sports for the hot players, don’t you?”

Of course not, it’s just an added bonus if there’s some eye candy though. Here’s an accurate depiction of me every time I see Cristiano Ronaldo:

2. But also, other sports enthusiasts don’t take your opinion seriously

Ever been interrupted and talked over by your male friends when you’re discussing a match? I have.

3. People assume you’re feigning interest in sports to impress guys

You think I’d sit through 90 minutes of a football match or watch all five days of a cricket test match to impress someone?

4. Your collection of football jerseys is just as vast as your Make-up collection

Who said you have to be either extreme? I could be painting my nails while also watching a match.

5. They think you’re from a family of mostly men

“Do you watch it because of your brother/dad?”

6. Boys look at you like you’re some unicorn descended from Heaven itself

I mean, yeah, we are pretty magical.. Can’t deny that.

7. Even the slightest mention of sports has most of your female friends looking at you like :

8. You get to hear, “you don’t look like you’re sporty” very often.

Well, there’s a funny thing called ‘appearances can be deceiving’.. Look into it.

9. When you wear your favorite team’s jersey, boys look at you like: 

You also get those “nice shirt” compliments like never before.

10. Your male friends think it’s their duty to quiz you on your knowledge 

Because it’s just so unbelievable that a girl can love sports just as much as them, they feel the need to prove it.

11. Everyone is mind-blown when you tell them you understand the offside rule in football

I can’t even deny it, that impresses me too..

12. You’re called a “bandwagon fan” or “plastic fan” for supporting the team that usually wins

Or maybe I just have really great choice when it comes to selecting my favorite team?

13. Your enthusiasm is seen as you “trying to be cute”

There’s a different shriek for excitement and disappointment and every emotion in between… We thought everyone knew.

But sporty girls, you do you. Everybody knows you’ve got it and they’re just too jealous to admit otherwise.
