We usually say that Urdu and Hindi are almost the same language. But these words will make you think otherwise. You will never see the two languages the same way, ever again.

1. Smoking

The dangers of smoking get highly exaggerated because, well the border ka uss paar equivalent is dhoomrapaan!

2. Prime Minister 

We say wazir e azam but Hindi takes the job to a whole new level!

3. Politicians

Siyasatdaan for us, and for them….

4. Harmful

Dhoomrapaan sehat ke liye (harmful) hanikaraak hai ? Samjhe? 

5. Industry

6. Entertainment

tafreeh (I can feel Lahoris hating on this word already. Use the proper Urdu pliss) = manoranjan (Like whaaaaaat)

7. Prayer

8. News 

Khabar just isn’t good enough.

9. Autumn

10. Tradition

11. Security

Given how much we are in need of it, in this region, the word makes sense to have.

12. West

Since East is where we all are, we thought how about looking westward for a word about directions. Smart na?

13. Accident

Yes yes we know that some of these words have been taken into context and shizz, but the raw, pure Hindi lufz is still pretty different to Urdu. Each zubaan is unique and beautiful and we love them all, but Hindi is DIFFICULT.
