12 Steps Which Will Help Eliminate Arranged Marriage

By Umair Mahmood | 1 Aug, 2015

With the rise of the digital age, it seems everything these days can be done with the help of technology. You no longer have to wait for clingy aunties to find you a rishta. You too can be your own personal rishta consultant. Here is what you need to do:

Step 1 – Find out the name of the person you like

This might not yield much results but it’s great for a start. Slow and steady wins the race. Once you get the name, the rest is up to your research skills. If you don’t have a name, you might as well skip this article and go to shaadi.com or Tinder.

Step 2 – Stalk on all social media platforms

This means you need to be creepy and find this person on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. Intensively stalk this person to make sure he/she is marriage material. If you can’t find this person online then he/she is too old for you to marry. Apni umar kay insaan sey shaadi kur.

Step 3 – Look out for a mutual link

Unless this person is from Mars, you should be able to find a link which can help you connect with this person. Become friends with this person to slowly get close to your target. If your mutual links include a family member, then you potentially have a crush on your phupi ka bacha. For those people marrying their cousins, please stop reading this.

Step 4 – Get the mutual link to arrange a meeting

Now that you are best friends with the mutual link, it’s time to take action. Tell your new friend about your intentions and get the ball rolling.

Step 5 – The Meeting

This moment decides if the person you were eying is actually interested in you or not. If he/she digs you as much as you dig them, then game on hai. Tell the person you would like to meet them more often.

Step 6 – Ask around for past history

A great scholar once said “it’s a small world after all.” Find out everything about the person’s past and present to make sure that this person is not a psychopath.

Step 7 – Arrange frequent hangouts

If by any chance this person turns out to be normal, you go to the next step of having your frequent hangouts. This is where you decide if you’re going to go out with him/her or not.

Step 8 – The Decision

After spending an ample amount of time with this person, you two have to mutually see if you can be married together. If the decision is yes, you go forward. If for some reason the decision is no, you either go back to zero or give up on life and find a rishta aunty.

Step 9 – Show your parents the person you like

And this means if you are really serious about that special someone, only then. It demands remarkable guts from your side. But only go ahead if you are serious. Otherwise, this could lead to disastrous consequences. No one wants that. After the meeting, hope that you get each other’s parents approval

Step 10 – Get engaged

Hurray! This is the time when you have achieved what you wanted. Now don’t you worry about anything more. Everything went according to the plan.

Step 11 – Make sure you want to get married

This is where you will have cold feet. Is she the right one? Would you have been better off getting an arranged marriage? Am I the marrying type?

Step 12 – Get married

If you made it this far, congratulations. Looks like you’re ready to get married. But remember: you shouldn’t get married to someone because it’s the next step in your life. You should get married because you want to share your life with someone.

What happens if you didn’t make it all the way to step 12? Unfortunately, it’s time for you to meet the rishta waali aunty. Good luck.
